Pentridge

Escaping the past

Sense drew inspiration from key architectural elements of Pentridge to develop a visual language for this former prison as distinctive as its bluestone walls. A positive voice created separation from its history and liberated its future.

The good idea

Create a destination for people to escape to. With the seamless integration of residential, retail, entertainment and public spaces set within historic surroundings, we had the opportunity to create a new heart for Coburg. We honoured Pentridge’s layered past while breathing new life into its future.

The great work

By building a ‘place setting’ narrative and giving a confident voice to this truly one-of-a-kind example of adaptive reuse, we were able to create a brand that was not only a place to live, work and relax, but became an exciting destination for all visitors.

A former prison transformed into an exciting destination.
